Austria could be undoubtedly described as a cradle of alpine skiing. It is a country of high alpine peaks, beautiful valleys and ski resorts of great quality.

Austria is rather a mountainous country with an average altitude of 900 meters above sea level. Austrian mountains belong to the eastern part of the Alps and they extend through the country from west to the east. Tyrol and Salzburg Alps are located in the northern Austria, The Hohe Tauern including the highest peak of Austria – Grossglockner (3797 m) are located in the central part and Ötztal, Zillertal and Karnic Alps are located in the south.

Austria offers ski slopes of superior quality with a total length of 20 000 kilometers. There is a total amount of 9500 ski lifts with a total capacity of 1,5 mil. pers. /hour. Ski pass includes traveling by ski lifts and ski buses as well as additional services in the local resorts. There is a huge number of different ski lifts and cable cars that can get you from the bottom of the mountain to its peak. Chair-lifts, cabin cable-cars – called gondolas, huge cabin cable-cars and cog-wheel railways. Each of the bigger ski resorts also provides perfect conditions for snowboarding and cross-country skiing.
